Snow Shoeing, Cross Country Skiing, Backcountry Skiing...

Talus Lodge is located in the outstanding Canadian Rockies, nestled in a spectacular alpine setting located on a limestone plateau between the upper reaches of the Cross and Albert Rivers and four kilometers South from Banff National Park's boundary. The area is a true wilderness where a combination of streams, lakes, topography and elevation offer the opportunity to experience nature and view wildlife from a very comfortable home base. The lodge is a new building designed to offer comfort and luxury, balanced with a keen desire to maintain and protect the delicate ecological values within our area of operation and adjacent territories.

The chalet is in close proximity to White Man Pass and Spray Pass and therefore, can also act as a hub for explorations to and from the Spray River Valley, Palliser Pass and Burstall Pass in Banff National Park and Kananaskis Provincial Park.

There are great possibilities for Winter activites including tobogganing, showshoeing, cross country skiing and backcountry skiing. Non-avalanche terrain and accessible mountain ridges vary for inexperienced and advanced skiers and offer outstanding views of the surrounding area. These mountains include: Mount Assiniboine, The Royal Group, Mount Sir Douglas, Mount Birdwood, and Burstall Pass. Many small alpine lakes add to the beauty of the hiking terrain.

Enjoy a pleasant afternoon exploring the gentle and extensive plateau by the lodge and admire the panoramic view of the peaks at their Winter best. The larch meadows adjacent to and below the lodge also offer fantastic opportunities to enjoy Winter and observe wildlife. More adventurous and experienced groups will delight in the variety and the intricacies of the terrain and superb landforms of this unique corner of the Rocky Mountains.

Access to Talus Lodge is via helicopter, with the option of flying from Canmore or Mount Shark in Alberta. These flights also offer fantastic views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and are included in the accommodation rates.
